What Are the Domains of ISO 41001?

ISO 41001 is a standard that provides requirements for a Facility Management System (FMS). The ISO 41001:2018 FMS certification standard has 11 domains or sections, which are:

Scope: This domain defines the boundaries and applicability of the FMS and identifies the facilities that are within the scope of the system.

Normative references: This domain lists the other ISO standards and guidelines that are referenced in ISO 41001.

Terms and definitions: This domain provides definitions of key terms used in the standard.

Context of the organization: This domain requires organizations to identify their internal and external context, their interested parties, and their strategic and operational objectives for facility management.

Leadership: This domain specifies the requirements for top management commitment, policy, roles, responsibilities, and authorities for the FMS.

Planning: This domain requires organizations to plan for risk assessment, risk treatment, and performance measurement of the FMS.

Support: This domain covers the requirements for resources, competence, communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement in the FMS.

Operation: This domain covers the requirements for operational planning and control, risk management, procurement, monitoring, and reporting in the FMS.

Performance evaluation: This domain covers the requirements for monitoring, measurement, analysis, evaluation, and internal audit of the FMS 41001:2018 ISO.

Improvement: This domain covers the requirements for nonconformity and corrective action, continual improvement, and management review of the FMS.

Transition: This domain covers the requirements for transitioning to the new FMS standard, including the development of a transition plan and the management of changes in the FMS ISO 41001 Certification.

These domains provide a comprehensive framework for designing, implementing, maintaining, and improving a Facility Management System in any organization. They help organizations to manage their facilities effectively, efficiently, and sustainably, and to improve the performance of their facilities over time.
